Amy Herbert

Centre Director

“The whole positive ethos which surrounds Explore Learning not only ignites my passion for teaching, but allows me to see the confidence in each child grow as they improve their skills in Maths and English. I take great pride in getting to know individual children and their parents so that I can help them to reach their full potential.”

Amy graduated from Durham University with a 2:1 in History, before joining the Explore Learning Epsom team in July 2010. Whilst at University, Amy volunteered at Durham HM Prison visitor’s centre as a Liaison Officer in their youth room. She also thoroughly enjoyed spending a summer at a school in Romania teaching English to 10-11 year olds. This was a challenging yet enthralling experience, which provided her with the enthusiasm to run a Drama club for younger pupils during her time at Sixth Form College.

Georgie Shersby

Assistant Director

‘There is nothing more rewarding than helping a child to reach their full potential.   Explore Learning provides the perfect environment for this to happen, allowing each child to work at their individual pace, whilst receiving fantastic support in a happy, friendly environment.  I feel very lucky to have such a fulfilling job that enables me to build brilliant bonds with each child and help them to maintain a great enthusiasm for learning’.

Georgie graduated from Bournemouth University with a 2:1 in Business Studies before joining Explore Learning in June 2011.  Whilst at University, Georgie spent her weekends during the summer working at her local activities centre for children of all ages, organising team activities and events.  Georgie also undertook a placement year, in which the most enjoyable aspect was the full coordination of the company’s schools program, involving the promotion of engineering to year 5 and 6 students.

Emma Coffey

Assistant Director

“Celebrating with a member when they answer questions correctly is one of the greatest things about Explore Learning. I feel truly lucky to be able to work for an organisation which inspires such a passion for learning within both children and parents.”

Emma graduated from the University of Warwick in July 2011 with a 2:1 in English and Theatre Studies. Emma’s passion for educating children began whilst a sixth form student when she pioneered a scheme which worked with local primary schools to teach Year 5 and 6 pupils basic German language skills. Throughout her time at university, Emma led a scheme which enabled students to volunteer their time to teach local children the skills of theatre. At the end of each term a performance was held in a professional venue for parents and members of the public.  Emma has always had an interest in the ways academic and social development can help to form more confident self expression in children. Emma has used her drama and theatre experience in various workshops to help increase the confidence and focus of many children and young people.
